When the ITIN number changed to SSN do I write zero on the spouse AGI amount?

I got a rejected 2017 tax return - IND-032-04 - in the Return Header must match the e-File database. My spouse  used ITIN number for tax return 2016 and now on 2017 tax return he has a social security number.

Do I change the amount AGI to zero?

Yes, if this is the first year that your spouse is using an SSN instead of an ITIN, then put $0 for prior year AGI.

Is there any additional action needed? Should we mail IRS to merge the tax record of the spouse with ITIN to the SSN?

Yes. per this link. <a rel="nofollow" target="_blank" href="https://www.irs.gov/individuals/additional-itin-information">https://www.irs.gov/individuals/additio... having the same problem with my husband even though we sent the IRS a rescind itin and combine to ssn letter about a month ago.

Yes, just confirming this worked for me today! Put 0 for your AGI.   Also apparently you have to tell the IRS about this change.  I would have assumed they know about it.  Reposting the relevant link from a previous post:

I probably wouldn't have had this issue if this notification had been done in advance, I suppose

Yes, putting 0 works. I tried twice, first submitted with the previous AGI that was filed with ITIN, it got rejected in about two minutes. Then I tried with 0 which worked immediately. Customer service mentioned it is okay to efile and get rejected multiple times. If it persists it would be better to file an extension and then paper file. Best of luck!
