Phase out calculation is wrong. I purchased a Tesla in October 2019. The credit should be 25% of $7500= $1875 but Turbotax tells me it is $7500.
Turbotax please fix this ASAP so that we can file our taxes.
Form 8936 is scheduled to be available in this week’s TurboTax release

See this TurboTax support FAQ for the 8936 error - https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/tax-topics/help/form-8936-qualified-plug-in-electric-drive-motor-v...
This is my first time filling with form 8936 so based on what you wrote, if your rebate is $7500 we only can get 25% of $7500?

Great to see this working! Thanks for getting this working.
Also, there's a text box you can enter your qualified credit per the IRS site if TurboTax calculates it wrong.

Hello, so this is where I’m confused because I have 2019 Toyota Prius and it states $4502 but when I actually try to file, the amount decreases to $2700 ish? Is this normal that we are supposed to get partial? Tia
Well if you use that text box your form will still be filled out incorrectly. See
So I would pause submitting your taxes until this issue is resolved, where the form is not being entered correctly.
I submitted mine thinking the text box they provided to enter the correct credit was sufficient, if TurboTax calculated it incorrectly. But seeing my submitted tax forms, form 8936 shows 4a as "3,750", 4b as "50%", and 4c as "3,750". See the attached screenshot below.
Obviously that's not correct, as 4a should show 7,500 so multiplying 4a and 4b should yield my credit of 3,750.
I'm on the call with TurboTax to see how I can rectify my form since the above is correct.
Yeah, I don't think you can do anything until they fixed the calculation then we need to reenter the form I presume. I just don't understand why it takes so long to fix something as simple as this. How did they screw this up after working on it for 15 days in the first place is beyond me...
I hope this section of the tax return was brought down, until 2/21 when the issue will be resolved. If not, many customers are going to have incorrect 8936 forms.
I'm still dealing with finding a way to amend my return, since it still shows a state of Pending. It's been Pending since Friday which tells me there must be an issue with the automated processing of my return, since in the past it's been accepted within hours.
This isn't acceptable TT. I'm getting the run-around by your specialists that it's now my responsibility to contact the IRS and recall my tax return or figure out next steps, based on your application error? On-top of that this wouldn't even be covered by your extra package MAX benefits for you to fix the issue you caused.
This is such a huge mishap!
I hope you have taken down form 8936 and stopped others from encountering this issue. I see that issue page has 2000 views already, so if it's still live, you will have a lot of unhappy customers.
Unacceptable!
Thank goodness - my return was rejected and now it's back on TurboTax. So I'll have to wait to 2/20. I got the following message:
But now I have to deal with my federal refund being lower than it was when I filed it. It must be with the miscalculation they are trying to fix. One thing after another... Man this year TT has let me down.
I did see that 8936 form page was still up. TT - you should bring it down until this issue is fixed.
