When filing by mail what all gets mailed together?

I’m doing late taxes and sending my payments in full and filing, what all do I send in together? Do I mail a 1040A with both checks going to federal and state? I got 2 copies when I printed it. S

Note - For tax year 2018 there are no federal forms 1040A or 1040EZ, there is only the Form 1040.

The Federal income tax return, Form 1040, and the State income tax return are totally separate and mailed to separate addresses using separate envelopes.

Federal taxes owed are sent with the federal tax return only.  State taxes owed are sent with the state tax return only.

The Filing Instructions page for each tax return, Federal and State, will have the instructions on what to include with each tax return and the address to mail each tax return.

If you are referring to completing and filing a 2017 tax return then you must use the TurboTax desktop editions for tax year 2017.  You would need to purchase, download and install on a personal computer one of the 2017 desktop editions from this website - https://turbotax.intuit.com/personal-taxes/past-years-products/

When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s.  Use a mailing service that will track it, such as UPS or certified mail so you will know the IRS/state received the return.

In a previous thread you mentioned catching up on several years worth of tax returns.  Do not combine any of those returns by mailing them in the same envelope. Each one must be mailed separately or you risk one being overlooked when the envelope is opened.  Only 2018 can be e-filed.  Any year earlier than 2018 has to be mailed.
