After deleting my TurboTax Home and Business and RE-INSTALLING it, this problem did NOT go away.
The problem is having a lot of W2s to enter, (which I do).
I TRIED to instead download the program from Intuit and hopefully use the product code on my CD package (which the CD sleeve SAYS you can do) , but Intuit said my product key was ALREADY IN USE, and since I bought the program at Costco rather than downloading in the first place, I was out of luck.
So I went on Amazon and bought a download of H&R Block Premium, (about $47 including tax) and installed that. H&R can import your personal data from last years TURBO TAX generated return, so don't worry about that. I may be done with TTax FOREVER.
I took a quick look via forms, but I like the walk through to make sure I dont miss anything. that workaround may be OK for some folks, but as the other guy said, we paid for a WORKING PROGRAM.
I tried calling in to the help line, but the voice recognition was not smart enough to understand there was a problem with the program.
Hope everyone is getting done what they need! Peace!

Sorry you're having all that trouble. As a result, if you've decided not to use your TurboTax software, TurboTax does have an unconditional satisfaction guarantee for the CD/download version during the first 60 days after purchase--no matter where you purchased it. If Costco won't give you a product refund, then see this FAQ, which also has a link to the online refund request form.
@mesquitebean I actually returned my copy of TT Home and buz 21 to Costco and got another one because I was advised by TT support… this time I installed through a download instead from the CD … and voila same problem as before ie molasses slow when entering incomes through w2, 1099’s … and the way things are going Intuit flat out is refusing to acknowledge this issue … sad really. 2020 version in the same PC works fine.

You'd think that TurboTax would rotate some of their product engineers to occasionally monitor the user forum and hopefully pick up on technical threads like this. But I almost never see a TurboTax technical person post in the community forum. Granted, I don't see every thread, but I see a lot.
Thanks for the idea of getting a refund. I bought the disk at Costco on New Year's Eve, so I'm still just under the 2 month mark!
Turbo Tax performance is the worst ever this year in 2021 Premier edition. I have never experienced such a bad product. The blue wheel keeps spinning and taking a long time to open up and enter information in fields. I have been with Turbo Tax for over 20 years and never experienced this. This might the last year that I use Turbo Tax.
I hear you. I made special trip to Costco to return my copy of TT Home & Business.
I'm still in the process of working on my return with H&R Block Premium edition, (which runs just FINE) because I have both W2 and 1099 income.
If I fill in forms without looking, I find that I'm actually 5 - 10 fields ahead of Turbotax Premier, it's just that slow, and my inputs are lost. Also, It takes a full 15 seconds for the State dropdown menu to populate. It acts as if it is really an online application rather than one I installed on my PC. Very slow and sluggish. Even deleting is slow and very sluggish. I tried it on 3 PC now, including a fast, new Dell laptop, and the results were the same: very slow, as slow as my Verizon DSL. I tried calling Intuit to see if they have any suggestions but can't get through.
Hi - there is a problem with the desktop Turbotax program - but only with multiple w2's. It isn't you. You need to switch to forms when you input your W2's. Then you can switch back to steo by step to finish your return. Good luck! Wendy 🙂
@wkeeneykennicutt you are paying for a working product, not a work around. Adding salt is intuit has not acknowledged the problem at all.
True!! However, sometimes folks just want to finish their taxes. That is me! I am hoping that it gets fixed for next year. I feel sorry for the poor folks at TT answering the phones, earning their minimum wages. It is only March 1 - just wait!
To me it appears like the software isn't running on my local machine and behaves as if it's web based, and the "software" we bought is just a browser front end. If this it true I want my money back and will never use TT again, not to mention Intuit's exposure to a class action litigation!
That would be crazy if they tried that. One way to check would be to turn off your wifi and see if TT would run at all or if the problem would persist.
I agree that we are paying for more than a web based program. I bought the disk for crying out loud.
I'm using H&R Block Premium because I have many W2s and 1099s, and that is what seems to be slowing down the machine. H&R is not as good at handling city taxes as TurboTax, and I will try TurboTax next year before buying H&R again, but overall H&R is not bad at all.
Hi - this year TT has a glitch when entering W2s using step-by-step. The rest of the program is fine. Switch to Forms to enter your W2s, then switch back to finish up. I hope they fix this soon, but I am not holding my breath.
Wendy 🙂
