Hi- I finally gave up - I tried everything. It was taking 35s to go from one entry square to the next and it was just getting slower as I added more W2Gs. I had entered 40 and had another 60 to go. I just downloaded H&R Block. I was please I could upload my 2020 Turbotax file. I hope TT can figure out what went wrong and I might come back next year. I had been with TT for 15+ years. So sad.
AGAIN ... you can total up all the winnings and make ONE entry in any program you use ... do not waste all that time and effort over something that is never even sent to the IRS ... they get that info from the issuer of the W-2G forms and NOT from you. All that shows up on the form 1040 is the total amount won.
My last post - we were audited a few years ago because of problems with our w2 gs so I am just being extra careful. I am glad you have not had an issue.
And again, you're ignoring the real issue that there is an issue with the program. Ok. There is a work around in this instance but it doesn't solve the bigger issue. For example, people with multiple normal W2s can't add up the total income!
I know - that it why I gave up and moved to HR block. I was able to upload last year's turbotax. I did get one tech to tell me to use the online version and he gave me a code, but we have satellite internet and it is slow. Good luck.

Online TurboTax is not as fully featured, either. It can only prepare 1 Federal return and does not have Forms Mode. Some online editions have some form limitations.
Sorry you had so much trouble. Since you used another preparer, you can ask for your TurboTax software product refund under the 100% Satisfaction Guarantee, no matter if you bought it directly from Intuit or from an authorized retailer. They say there's a 60-day window, but I would request it even if it's been longer than 60 days since the software is not working right in your situation. You can request the refund at this page:
Thanks for understanding! I tried to make it work. It seems the issue is seen when multiple forms are entered into the same part of the program, e.g. multiple W2s or W2Gs. I saw 9s delay between entering each data point after 10 forms entered, but by the time I entered 40 forms, there was a 35s delay between each data point.
Same problem. I've been using TT for years, and never had such headaches. Every step is slow. Every calculation is slow. Constant "program is not responding" messages. Restarting doesn't help. Turning off virus protection doesn't help. Running only TT doesn't help.
TT was very nice when they refunded my money. It actually was easy converting to HR Block - I could upload my 2020 TT data and move on. There will just be a learning curve.
The problem is the speed of the program not the amount of data. READ THE POST
PLEASE STOP POSTING. WE ARE TRYING TO TROUBLESHOT ANOTHER PROBLEM
I'm having the same issue but it seems to be isolated to inputting data in the w-2 fields, other areas seem okay. I haven't tried inputting from forms view rather than from easy step view. I wonder if that would be any better?
I didn't try that either! Worth a try before you leave TT like I did.
I tested inputting in forms view and there is no lag.
I wish I had thought of that before I left! Congrats for finding a work-around!!
