What is the general purpose of uploading your taxes from last year?

Is it to pay taxes if you had a tax refund from last year?  I am unable to upload my taxes from last year because the file is too big as I had a tax preparer do it for me last year.  I know one number they ask for is 2020 state tax paid in 2021.  Thank you.
