The 5-digit PIN is an electronic filing PIN which is your signature electronic signature and created by you.

For more information, review the IRS article Self-select PIN method for Forms 1040.

To e-file a tax return you can enter any self-selected 5 digit PIN.  What must be correct is the 2023 AGI you entered so the IRS can verify your tax return.

The 5 digit e-file PIN can be any 5 digits you select and can be changed each tax year.  What must be correct is the 2023 AGI you entered which is used for your electronic signature when e-filing the 2024 tax return.
