W2 info didn’t end up on box 1

I am neither a caregiver now on Medicaid. I have every year a W-2 from a deferred plan that was part of my retirement. For years I enter the W2 data into TT premier and it ends up on line 1a of my 1040.

but for 2024 TY return line 1a is 0!  I can see the W2 amount on the return but it is in Schedule 1, Part 1, item 8t.

always before it was just in the 1040 total line 1a

what goes?

W2 info didn’t end up on box 1

If you have a retirement plan you should be getting a 1099R not a W2.   Why were you getting a W2?   If you were under the full requirement age and had early retirement due to a disability or something you got a W2.  But when you turn the full requirement age it should switch you to a 1099R.

is there an amount in box 12 of the w-2 that's the same as box 1? later for the w-2 box 12 would have a G. 

this is if the distribution was from a 457 plan - non government

Distributions from a 457 plan are reported differently based on whether the plan is governmental or non-governmental:
Non-governmental 457(b) plans: Distributions are reported in Box 1 of the W-2, which includes total taxable wages and compensation

Nonqualified plans. Report any reportable distributions from commercial annuities. Report distributions to employee plan participants from section 409A nonqualified deferred compensation plans and eligible nongovernmental section 457(b) plans on Form W-2, not on Form 1099-R

 

Box 11. This amount is (a) reported in box 1 if it is a distribution made to
you from a nonqualified deferred compensation or nongovernmental
section 457(b) plan, or (b) included in box 3 and/or box 5 if it is a prior
year deferral under a nonqualified or section 457(b) plan that became
taxable for social security and Medicare taxes this year because there is
no longer a substantial risk of forfeiture of your right to the deferred
amount. This box shouldn’t be used if you had a deferral and a
distribution in the same calendar year. If you made a deferral and
received a distribution in the same calendar year, and you are or will be
age 62 by the end of the calendar year, your employer should file Form
SSA-131, Employer Report of Special Wage Payments, with the Social
Security Administration and give you a copy.

G—Elective deferrals and employer contributions (including nonelective

deferrals) to a section 457(b) deferred compensation plan

 

 

in order for the amount to appear on 8t there must be an amount in box 12 with code G.
