W-2- taxes not withheld

Hi, I did not give my employer a W4. I received my W2 with no taxes withheld, do I need to ask my employer for a 1099 or they should automatically send it to me?. I am in California.

Thank you

W-2- taxes not withheld

No.   It seems that you are a W-2 employee and they issued a W-2 to you.   They do not need to give you a 1099.   Was any Social Security or Medicare withheld?   (Look at boxes 4 and 6 of the W-2).   If you mean there is nothing in box 2 for federal tax withheld, then they did not take anything out for federal tax.  Enter your W-2 just as it appears.  The software will calculate whether you owe any tax.
