For years, having two accounts at Vanguard has caused problems with TurboTax to be reported here.
Having same problem - keep getting message that something unusual happened - try again in a few hours ??
Always worked for last 5 years ?
1099-DIV and Summary from broker and barter transactions
What is going on there? I am having the same issue but did not have it in last couple of years.
Please see this thread answered by a TurboTax Tax Expert about troubleshooting the download of Vanguard 1099-DIV.
If you continue to have the same issue, please click on the Contact Us form https://support.turbotax.intuit.com/contact/. We’ll help you connect with the right expert for your specific problem.
Absolutely the same problem and I've used Turbo with Vanguard for years with without this problem. Joint account but I used the primary name. What's the point in paying extra for help and getting this junk.
Same issue here on 4/2/2021. My Vanguard brokerage account 1099 DIV info imported, but not the 1099 B info. Both are in the same Vanguard brokerage account. I went the import route as I figured I wouldn't miss anything. That false sense of security is gone now. Now I have to check each item in the import anyway to see what else might be missing or incorrect. Attention TurboTax moderator - If TurboTax produces the wrong result because of an import error - does their guarantee still apply?
It appears that Turbo Tax does not recognize my Vanguard user name and password. The Vanguard service rep says to contact Turbo Tax. Who can solve this import problem that I read often on this web site? Johng
All my Vanguard Brokerage statement for 2020 will not import to Turbo Tax. Johng
Due to your import experience I can make a suggestion that may work for you.
You can do a summary of long term and then short term combinations (long term holding is more than one year, short term holding is one year or less). Make one entry for each. You can then send the worksheets or statement with Form 8949 after your return is accepted, attached to Form 8453. The maximum for one sale cannot exceed $9,999,999, if this is not the case you can ignore this statement.
If you are e-filing your tax return, then mail your statements along with Form 8453 to:
Internal Revenue Service
Attn: Shipping and Receiving, 0254
Receipt and Control Branch
Austin, TX 73344-0254
If you need a blank Form 8453, you can download this pdf, enter your address information and check the box for Form 8949 (this form is really just a cover sheet).

I am having the same issues as other users on this thread. I can't import my consolidated 1099 forms from Vanguard. This is very frustrating as I purchase a more expensive version of Home and Business to ensure I can have this feature supported. Please get this resolved as the deadline is nearing!
I'm having the same problem with my 1099 consolidated form AND also with TD Ameritrade so the problem is with Turbo Tax! (AS)
I have over 100 trades so that certainly isn't the answer I'm looking for. Thank you but hopefully there is a better solution!
I have "Premier Turbo Tax" and can't import from my two brokerages, Vanguard and TD Ameritrade. When I try to import, the error message received received is " the 1099 forms aren't ready yet. Both Brokerages show they are now ready. The problem must be with the Premier Turbo Tax program. Has anyone imported from Vanguard or TD Ameritrade with another Turbo Tax program other than Premier this year?
Feb 18, 2022 - I am having the very same issue! I am unable to import my Vanguard brokerage 1099-B. Even thought the tax statements are ready at Vanguard, I get an error message that says "the statements are not available". I called Vanguard and they feel it is a Turbo Tax connectivity issue. Please don't tell me to enter the 1099 manually........that is why I bought the Premier version of TT so I would not have to enter manually and possible make a mistake with so many transactions. I tried contacting TT by phone but their automated system did not recognize the email address I am using to login - which makes no sense. Round and round we go..............this has not been an issue for me in prior years with Vanguard and I see multiple complaints out here so TT needs to respond.
Please see the Help Article here for more information on troubleshooting the importing of your 1099. The instructions mention Schwab but follow the instructions with the company you utilize. If you are still having issues, please use this Help Article here to reach out to us.
