While running the Smart Check, I continue to get a "Check This Entry" error. It is regarding a 10990-G that I entered. The error says, "Box 4 (Federal Income Tax withheld) appears to be entered in error. Your total unemployment compensation is $xx. Your federal withholding of $xx is more than half of that amount. Please verify that the correct amount of federal income tax withholding has been entered correctly."
The 1099-G I received from the state does have the same amounts in boxes 1 and 4. So the error message is correct, but that is what the 1099 states. There is nothing to correct from what I entered, and the error is not valid.
I can click "Done" after the Smart Check to continue, but when I get to final step to transmit my return I get another message that the return cannot be e-filed due the 1099-G error and I have to change my filing method.
Is there anyway to override or satisfy Turbotax so that I can e-file? Everything is entered correctly for this suspected error. Or do I just need to file by mail?

I think box 4 is taxable amount. Go check 1099G AND ENTER 0.00 FOR TAX WITHHELD
Go back in program erase and re=enter amount. follow forward with continue. answer questions. program may need a check in box about amount entered.
Thank you. Box 4 on my 1099G is for Federal Income Tax Withheld not the Taxable Amount. 100% of what was received was taxed. I had requested that taxes be withheld. It is a minimal amount we are talking about, but the amounts are correct. I deleted the 1009G, reentered everything, and still came up with the same error.
The IRS will prevent you from e-filing if your withholding amount is above a certain percentage of the income amount. It is a security measure. TurboTax has no control over it. If the numbers are entered properly from your Form 1099-G, and your withholding equals the income, you won't be able to e-file your return so you will need to mail it in.
