Unable to e-file due to 1099-G Error
While running the Smart Check, I continue to get a "Check This Entry" error. It is regarding a 10990-G that I entered. The error says, "Box 4 (Federal Income Tax withheld) appears to be entered in error. Your total unemployment compensation is $xx. Your federal withholding of $xx is more than half of that amount. Please verify that the correct amount of federal income tax withholding has been entered correctly."
The 1099-G I received from the state does have the same amounts in boxes 1 and 4. So the error message is correct, but that is what the 1099 states. There is nothing to correct from what I entered, and the error is not valid.
I can click "Done" after the Smart Check to continue, but when I get to final step to transmit my return I get another message that the return cannot be e-filed due the 1099-G error and I have to change my filing method.
Is there anyway to override or satisfy Turbotax so that I can e-file? Everything is entered correctly for this suspected error. Or do I just need to file by mail?
