My Federal Review for my Schedule C says that the total of my square footage used for my office is greater than the allowable 300, but it's 182. Won't let me e-file.

Nope.

Line B: Enter the square footage of your office: 182
Live C: The lesser of the square footage of your office or 300: 182

It looks like TurboTax just has a bug, or someone can't do basic math.

I'm going to turn off the simplified method, do it the long way, and see what happens.

It was adding the 182 sqft to a second office.  It’s 300 sqft allowed COMBINED.

are you saying that within your home you have two offices each for a separate business and each 182 sq ft.  or are you saying you have 1 office that you use for two businesses .  in that case i would split the square footage and use 91 for each

this is driving me insane.  I have two home offices.  One I have the square footage as 550.  On another one I have the square footage as 775.  this stupid "the lesser of the square footage of your office or 300" thing has me in an endless loop.  No matter what I put in it kicks me back to review it.  

what the heck?  "the lesser of" - the lesser of WHAT?  And how come when i do what it says "or 300" and enter 300 it still kicks it back?

two @ 300 is more than the 300 max for all

If you use the simple deduction, you can o pay count one of them (and only for 300).  It adds them together, and the total cannot be over 300.

TaxPro+40 and aardwolf...you guys are life savers.  thank you.  that worked.  I set both to 150.  No issues.  Just wish that is explained clearer - and maybe it is my fault and I did not click on an INFO icon box to read more and become better educated.

So you're saying with two home offices and filing with the simple deduction, the IRS won't let me claim as a deduction more than 300 sg ft for "all" home offices?

Dang...because my two home offices total about 1,000 sq ft....maybe I need to not do the simple deduction next year.
