TurboTax WILL NOT LOAD (after checking for updates)

SERIOUS PROBLEM - and am having problems reaching TTax support on this issue.

Product is TurboTax 2025 - Desktop Deluxe version - Windows 11

It WAS Working, but not now - so let me step through the details (won't take long)

As I said it was working and I even have 2 tax return files generated.

1.  When I started this morning, I clicked on the wrong TurboTax icon on my desktop (Turbotax 2023)

      It loaded and was even updated - but upon noticing my error, I killed it (red X)

2.  After re-arranging my icons on my desktop, I clicked on TurboTax 2025.

3.  It came up briefly, with the checking for updates and the little yes, taking more than a few seconds popup.

4.  Then the popup disappears - the whole process lasting about 2 seconds and Turbotax goes away.

I have repeated this process about a dozen times - same thing happens (TTax popup only up 2 seconds)

The exact same thing happens if I try Running as an administrator.

AND now the really funny thing is that Turbotax 2023, the one that was started just a few minutes earlier (updates loaded and everything) is doing the same.  It will no longer load nor will last year's Turbotax 2024 (same process on all of them).

I have both Malwarebytes and Windows Defender running on my Windows 11 PC - and it has never been a problem (i.e. Trubotax 2025 has been run several times and Turbotax 2023 was even running minutes before this problem) - and no errors or blocking notifications.

I AM a 2025 Turbotax Subscriber but purchased the 2023 version at Costco.  It is almost like Intuit after updating my Turbotax 2023 got its wires crossed and now refuses to update any of my Turbotaxes - and in fact kills them.

Does anyone know what could be going on here.  Sounds like a blocking problem - just can't figure out who or what is causing this.

You need to restart your computer.  But before you do you need to clear your cache and cookies.  The system thinks that there is an instance of TurboTax still running so it is killing the new instances instead of letting them load.

OK guys, CLOSE THIS ONE OUT.

Yes, after exhaustively testing everything possible, it was a (somehow) corrupted TurboTax.

And I will congratulate Mary - TurboTax Rep who stuck with me for nearly 2 hours in resolving this problem.

We finally connected via sharing screens (problem here, see below) and after Mary finally seeing and believing what was going on - we finally decided to Uninstall my current copy of TurboTax 2025 Desktop and re-download it - and that fixed everything.

However, let me note a couple of things:

1)  The corruption of TurboTax 2025 was so bad (convoluted) that it spilled over into my 2 old TurboTax 2023 & 2024 - the icons still being on my desktop screen.  I would have bet the problem was not a TurboTax 2025 problem (I suspected TurboTax itself) BECAUSE just before I had my problems, I had accidentally clicked on the TurboTax 2023 icon, and TurboTax 2023 loaded and was even updated - everything working perfectly.  I Exited the TurboTax 2023 immediately after recognizing my error - and immediately afterwards TurboTax 2025 would not load, nor going back to TurboTax 2023, it would not load either (nor would TurboTax 2024).

Anyway, the re-install of TurboTax 2025 fixed them all - truly baffling.

2)  Kind of a minor problem in sharing screens with TurboTax.  I have 3 monitors and when I could see the Rep cursor, she could not see my screen - and vice versa.  I had to be on a particular screen for her to see what was going on, on my screen - and was at kind of a loss when she was saying, "look over here".  Anyway, just thought I would throw that comment in.

3)  Also, the Shift/Enter (or whatever) on my Windows 11 did not generate a screen sharing code, but Mary sent me an email with a link I could use.

Again, I want to thank TurboTax support for providing me with the support I needed (2 hours is outstanding) to get this problem resolved.
