I receive the message "This import was unsuccessful. Select Skip import and we'll help you enter it manually...".
I don't want to enter it manually, I paid money for TurboTax Premier to do just the opposite, integrate with my brokerage accounts.
Note that this has not been acknowledged by any of the TurboTax replies as a BUG, which it is.
I already know what TurboTax "Experts" are going to say:
This is unacceptable, it is ~20 days from Tax Day and I do not want to manually enter in my information as there are many 1099 forms and I paid for an integration so all of these fields are prefilled. I am perplexed that the integration with E*Trade (a Morgan Stanley owned company) is not working this close to tax day.
Please provide a solution that doesn't involve manual entry, that is the only response I am looking for on this thread.

A friend of mine tried to import things from Chase for TY2021. Found out from reading TT blog that the name changed legally to JPMorgan Chase but TT didn't have the updated info. I can't help but wonder if "E*Trade" has a different legal name in the TurboTax system and you will have to use that name. Search thru some of the choices that it might be.
That is the only think I can think of.
@StantonB actually there are 3 E*Trades listed so @jonesy213 needs to select the correct one.
if problems try call E*trade. Usually, a broker can be more helpful in resolving import issues than T.
@Mike9241 I tried all three. The first two say "Your ID is invalid" so getting the message of "This import was unsuccessful" leads me to believe that my credentials were correct, but something is wrong with either TT or E*Trade.
From the comments I've read it looks like this is a TT issue.
I'm still perplexed as E*Trade is one of the few logos that shows on the import page (see attachment).
Like... c'mon. You shouldn't advertise this brokerage as a top partner when you can't do the basic function of importing their data.
The truth is that many are able to import successfully. There are many variables connected with importing, so it's difficult to say why it doesn't work for you.
Some issues include clearing Cache and Cookies, turning off virus protection while importing, and being aware that a default browser may be operating in the background while importing.
You can download your 1099-B to your computer and attach it as a PDF to your return. Choose 'Summary Method' to enter your sales in this case.
Here's more discussion relating to Etrade Imports.
@jonesy213
@MarilynG It doesn't matter that "it works for a lot of people", it matters that there is a bug for a subset of people using the Desktop version. Here is a thread of multiple people reporting this problem, yet TT won't create a case for it. I added my response there but plainly put:
I didn't pay for Premier to manually enter my data. I've been able to integrate with my brokerage for the past 10 years, and this is the first time this bug has happened, and yet there is no work to try and fix it. The many people I talked to at TT for the past 2 hours all said they can't open a case because there is a "workaround".
I find this bad product management. If you have a bug (especially a big one where you can't import crucial tax data), you report the bug and have a workaround. I'm fine with there being a workaround but NO ONE would open a case for this issue and I am perplexed why this is.
So yes, this works for some people, but when a key functionality of one of your top highlighted partners isn't working, I think it is work admitting that there is a bug and saying you will (or will not) work to fix it.
