Is anyone else having issues with the TurboTax application for Desktop not opening. I have Windows 11 25H2 build [removed]
I have tried rebooting and also tried reinstalling TurboTax, neither worked.

Uninstalling TurboTax and then uninstalling Microsoft Visual C++, then reinstalling TurboTax fixed my issue
If the TurboTax App won't open, you can temporarily turn off your antivirus or firewall.
If it still doesn't work, reinstall the app using a new installer or fix your Microsoft Visual.
In case you are still having the situation, follow the instructions given in the link below:
Uninstalling TurboTax and then uninstalling Microsoft Visual C++, then reinstalling TurboTax fixed my issue
Thank you so much for sharing what worked for you because it worked for me too! There were several versions of Microsoft C++ installed. As suggested, I uninstalled all Microsoft C++, uninstalled Turbotax 2025, restarted device. I reinstalled Turbotax 2025 which installed Microsoft Visual C++ 2015-2022 Redistributable (x64) - 14.44.35211. Turbotax 2025 successfully launched and even ran updates.
TurboTax 2025 was the 3rd app that failed to launch within the past few days. Adobe Acrobat Reader DC quit working a few days ago, saying that msvcp140.dll could not be found. Acrobat Photoshop Elements has the same problem. Web chatter on the Acrobat Reader issue exists, but it is not consistent, so I have not attempted a fix, yet. Microsoft Visual C++ is mentioned by a few people.
I just now tried to launch TurboTax 2025 Home and Business from the app tray, and nothing happened...same when trying to open my tax file. I have a relatively new Surface Pro 11 (ARM), and Visual C++ has six installed versions (2012x64, 2021x86, 2013x64,2013x86, 2015-2022x64,2015-2022Arm64).
Would you suggest uninstalling TurboTax 2025 and all of the Visual C++ versions? Should I also uninstall older versions of TurboTax before reinstalling 2025? Any guess on whether this will cure Acrobat Reader and Photoshop Elements? Thanks!
Looks like I have THREE Microsoft C++ apps:
Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 x86 Redistributable - 10.0.30319 (dated 3/26/2024)
Microsoft Visual C++ 2015-2022 x86 Redistributable (X64) - 14.44.35211 (dated 2/8/2026)
Microsoft Visual C++ 2015-2022 x86 Redistributable (X86) - 14.44.35211 (dated 2/8/2026)
I'm suspecting the last two because they're the closest to the most recent Microsoft system update. Three weeks ago I opened last year's TurboTax to grab a document and now I can't even open that version of TT.
Do I get rid of all 3 MS Visual C++ apps?
I had the same questions you have. I can't say whether it will help your Adobe apps but yes, deleting all versions of MS C++, uninstalling all versions of Turbo Tax, rebooting, exiting my VPN (which may not have been necessary) and then installing Turbo Tax WORKED!.
I removed all the C++ files and Turbo Tax 2025, rebooted and tried again and it still will not launch. What else has been done to get this program to work. I am losing confidence in the software.
When you re-installed TurboTax, did you allow C++ to install also? If so, have you tried disabling your security software before launching? Are you running as 'Administrator? (right-click TT icon).
Here's more info on Troubleshooting TurboTax Desktop Issues.
Disabling security and running as admin are not acceptable answers for a mass market consumer focused software product. I see that they are the official TurboTax "Troubleshoot TurboTax Desktop for Windows issues" page but still I do not consider those acceptable answers. Especially since the help page is basically saying disregard all security best practices on a computer that people have all of their Personally Identifiable Information (PII) and tax records on.
Running VMWARE on a MAC. Had the same problem.
Went into properties for the TT25.exe and selected compatibility, changed the emulator to SAFE and it worked.
Nothing else did.
