TurboTax 2023 Deluxe Won't Install: Installer No Longer Responding

I downloaded the 2023 Deluxe version of TurboTax from Amazon and it does not want to install.  The TT software does start, however, and I can get through the first two screens, one to acknowledge the Terms & Conditions, and the second to start the install, both with no issues.  The third screen that installs/shows the progress opens and shows "Installing ....", but nothing happens until a window pops up saying "Installer is no longer responding".  I have followed the troubleshooting suggestions from the TT help page, run as Administrator, disabled security software, run system scans, run disk defragment and cleanup, etc., but with no success.  I have also downloaded and run a number of Microsoft applications to check Windows (I am using the latest version of Windows 10, 64-bit).  I have used TT for the last 5+ years without any problems.  Any suggestions??  Thank you in advance.

Make sure you don't have any external drives connected to your computer (even if you're installing to C drive).

Have you installing on another computer?  One year I had to use my husband's computer to do our taxes, even though TurboTax had installed fine the year previously (and the year after) on my laptop.

Here's info on Troubleshooting Installation that may help you, if you haven't tried these steps yet.

Other users have suggested switching between accounts on your computer (if you have them), and using one to install and one to run the program.

You may need to Contact Support and let them get into your computer if you can't resolve your installation issue.

TurboTax 2023 Deluxe Won't Install: Installer No Longer Responding

I

I have used Turbotax Deluxe for 5 years with no hassle.  This year I have a different laptop (refurbished Dell Latitude 7490), and everything goes smoothly until I install.  The install bar loads, and then everything dies.  Nothing after that.  I have done all the suggestions, and the result is always the same.

There can be several issues why TurboTax can't install.

At this point, (since you have tried the general troubleshooting advice we can offer in this forum), you need to Contact TurboTax Support for individualized,  hands-on technical assistance.

TurboTax 2023 Deluxe Won't Install: Installer No Longer Responding

I had the same issue.

Sometimes I would get that error and other times nothing would happen. Install window would not even open.

I copied the files from the CD to the computer and double clicked on setup.exe.

Nothing happened. The install was running in the "background processes".

(dont restart the computer before this - Do this after the Install does nothing).

Then I followed this article:

How to perform a clean boot in Windows.

How to perform a clean boot in Windows - Microsoft Support

When I got to the startup Tab (picked Open Task Manager) I started to disable the Apps.

When I got to Display.exe (3) The TurboTax install window popped up and it installed at this point.

Not 100% sure that was the App causing the problem or there was a lag after disabling the apps listed before that. But it worked. (The 4 apps listed before Display.exe (3) were all Apps for my Epson Printer)

So I am betting on Display.exe (3) as the problem.

Also not sure if you have to do the Services Tab as listed in the clean boot article, but I did do that first.

Once TT was installed I enabled all the apps I disabled and then went to the Services tab and Enabled all the services. Picked Apply Then Picked Cancel so there was no restarting of the computer in a clean boot.

I dont have time to uninstall and try again to figure out exactly which app caused the problem.

Maybe this will help someone.
