Get your taxes done using TurboTax

I had the same issue.

Sometimes I would get that error and other times nothing would happen. Install window would not even open.

I copied the files from the CD to the computer and double clicked on setup.exe.

Nothing happened. The install was running in the "background processes".

(dont restart the computer before this - Do this after the Install does nothing).

Then I followed this article:

How to perform a clean boot in Windows.

How to perform a clean boot in Windows - Microsoft Support

When I got to the startup Tab (picked Open Task Manager) I started to disable the Apps.

When I got to Display.exe (3) The TurboTax install window popped up and it installed at this point.

Not 100% sure that was the App causing the problem or there was a lag after disabling the apps listed before that. But it worked. (The 4 apps listed before Display.exe (3) were all Apps for my Epson Printer)

So I am betting on Display.exe (3) as the problem.

Also not sure if you have to do the Services Tab as listed in the clean boot article, but I did do that first.

Once TT was installed I enabled all the apps I disabled and then went to the Services tab and Enabled all the services. Picked Apply Then Picked Cancel so there was no restarting of the computer in a clean boot.

I dont have time to uninstall and try again to figure out exactly which app caused the problem.

Maybe this will help someone.
