After completing the tax data entry, the program requested an update.
The update failed with a Win Installer message "No valid sequence could be found for the set of patches."
Tried multiple times - with the same result.
I tried a manual download of the patch -- failed
I tried an app uninstall -- wouldn't uninstall.
I tried manually uninstalling and removing the program.
I downloaded a new copy and got the same "No valid sequence could be found for the set of patches" message.
Does anybody have any ideas?
Is there a removal tool that will remove all traces?

....did you try to check for a Windows update, and install and full computer reboot first?
Sometimes a waiting Windows update will stop a TTX update...and a new Windows update was released this week.
Ohhhh...but you're way beyond that now.....certainly make sure you have the most recent windows update
Annnnnnnd then
Here's the FAQ on doing a forced uninstall:
Forcefully uninstall TurboTax for Windows 8.1/10/11 (intuit.com)
Thank you.
Everything is up to date with no updates waiting.
I manually deleted all of the registry entries and cleaned the remnants the best I could.
Rebooted and reloaded the original distribution program without incident.
Update to 10/13/22 on the main TT program worked fine.
California State update continued to fail.
It does not appear to be the win 10 o/s or the installer -- but the California update parameters or location.
BTW, I also did a system file check, checkdisk, and DISM restore health.
BTW -- the advice on the forced install leaves crap all over the registry with pointers to nonexistent programs and settings. Still looking for a complete uninstall tool from Turbotax that cleans registry entries and the AppData temp files.
Yeah...I was actually surprised that they did a 13 October update to TTX.
They usually lock the software for the 2 weeks prior to a deadline, to avoid any "unintended consequences" from the update that could create some type of havoc that cannot be corrected for a few weeks.
Your CA update problem may be some sort of such "havoc".

You could call Customer Support (IF they happen to be open this weekend...they do claim to be open some extended hours) to see if they can do anything, and at least get the problem reported and logged..... but there is little chance that it would get corrected before the 17 Oct deadline (that's just my guess)
What is the TurboTax phone number? (intuit.com)
