So I was wondering why I got the email about turbo tax stating something about protecting personal information. But my husband I decided not to file through Someone else my husband and I did use my turbo tax to get information off of. So is this a update since filed taxes with my husband today???

We received a check from IRS after we sent in federal taxes due for 2020. There was no explanation on the check except 2020 Tax Refund but when we used Turbo Tax the result was that we owed taxes and the amount that was calculated by Turbo Tax was sent via efile was accepted by the IRS but we still got a small $4.00 check back by mail. We verified at irs.gov that the check was indeed sent by United States Treasury, but I don't know why. Please help us figure out why this check was sent to us by IRS.

Wait for the IRS letter of explanation to come in the mail in the next couple of weeks but did you have unemployment on the return or did you have to repay some/all of the advance Premium Tax Credit for the "Obamacare" insurance form 8962?
Thank you for your reply. "No" to both your questions. It's just a mystery to me as to why we would get a refund back by check when we owed additional taxes. Did Turbo tax calculate wrong and the IRS recalculatd and we overpaid by $4.00? Seems odd. I'll wait for explanation letter. We owe additional taxes each year and this has never happened before.

Might have been a recalculation of the underpayment penalty which the program estimates based on your entries on the return especially in the estimated payments section. Post back when you know something as this is a puzzler.
We didn’t have any underpayment penalty because we paid 100% of 2019 tax bill in 2020. So this is really a puzzle to me.
I’ll post back when I find out! Hopefully I’ll get an explanation letter.
What is the email for TurboTax? I can’t find a contact email anywhere. Why are they hard to get a hold of? They keep charging my account and now it’s negative balance
There is NO way to email TT support which is why you cannot find one ...
To contact TurboTax customer service/support use their contact website during business hours. If the problem concerns any type of refund for fees, use the key words billing issues and do Not use the word Refund or you will get a phone number for tax refunds.
Submit your question/problem during business hours and then use the option for Call (a phone number will be provided for Call) to speak directly with a TurboTax agent –
