Trying to file amended 2023 return.

We received an error notification for our 2023 return from the IRS. The IRS has told us how much we owe. I am trying to amend my 2023 return so I can find out how much additional I owe the state. However, when I click on file an amended return, the refund counter does NOT return to zero as it is supposed to do. Instead it says I owe a lot MORE than I originally did and there is lots of erroneous information in the original return fields, that do not appear in my printed original return. How do I fix this?

Make sure you are logged in using the same credentials that were used when you prepared your original return.  Please see this link for guidance.

Then follow these steps to start your amended return.
