FWIW, I have been working around the Intuit Framework code 'not allowing selection/cant type' bug in their forms and registration for 10years running. THEY NEVER FIX IT. Rarely will they even believe it is a bug and their test team seems incapable of driving this to resolution...I was a Software Test Engineer for 22yrs.
(Windows 11, latest updates, full resolution display, no silly 800x600 settings, no 'Run as Admin' nonsense)
BUG: When Windows TOUCHPAD device is not used, the activation of the text input box is *not* successful, despite the cursor-like control being shown on selection.
DO NOT USE Touchscreen...DO NOT USE digital pen to select control.
MY FIX: Enable Windows Touchpad control (I always keep mine disabled and dont use it)
a) Using touchpad, select the Activation Code Text Input Control
b) Type your License Key (now works)
c) CTRL-V your license Key from your Amazon Copy/Paste (now works)
THIS BUG ALSO Exists if you enter the FORMS for your taxes. Same fix.
Hope this helps not only those who buy Intuit products, but also helps someone at Intuit fix this *10year* old bug in their code!
Excellent!! Using the touchpad did the trick. Thanks!
Can anyone help with this issue of not being able to enter license code on activation screen?
Someone helped me so I can pass this on. I tried on two touch screen devices and couldn’t enter the code. I was told to use the touchpad or mouse to click in the text box, instead of pressing on the box. I used the touchpad. That worked!
This worked beautifully! Thank you so very much!

So fun fact. Update windows if needed, reset display setting 800 x 600, turn off auto scaling. Install. When TT says it has to restart after updating and doesn't, wait a few minutes, start TurboTax from your "start" menu instead of shortcut you should be able to enter your license code and it should work. Windows 10.
Ridiculous that this is still happening 5 years in...... TT help was useless.
Someone suggested a fix to me and it worked. I was using two touch screen device and could not get it working. When I used the trackpad or mouse it worked.
What is the issue with providing decent technical Support TT? It sucks!! I have been a TT user for ever. I just installed the 2022 Home and Business on desktop but CANNOT enter the license code because the licence code field appears to be inactive. I can click the cursor in it but cannot enter any charatecters. Please help
hi there!
some customer posted the solution. You cannot use a touch screen to enter this in the text box. Use a mouse or the touch pad to put your cursor in the text box.

If you are using a touchscreen devise, use the mouse or trackpad to click in the box. This works.
Yes it works. Alan has previously answered this. I took his good advice.

Touchpad worked for me as well. Thanks for the heads up. It was a tad strange that touch-screen didn't/doesn't work.
Ditto, same problem, I bought a new Windows 11 laptop. I have been on the phone with 2 different agents for 2 hours and no resolve. I've installed Turbo Tax Deluxe from a disc & it wouldn't let me enter my license code. So I uninstalled it and downloaded it off the internet with my license code. When you launch TurboTax it asks again to enter the license code in the box and it won't enter anything. The last agent told me to update my windows which I did and it did not correct the problem.
If you have a touch screen, do not use it to access the code box. Use a mouse or trackpad, and you shouldn’t have any problems.
My workaround keeps getting lost and Alan isnt always available to repost it...Intuit Tech support has no idea what they are talking about and they dont understand their own bug...still not fixed after 10yrs!

BUG: When Windows TOUCHPAD device is not used, the activation of the text input box is *not* successful, despite the cursor-like control being shown on selection. Messing with your resolution MAY fix this but doesnt always. It has to do with the API used to select the UI element...this is why software engineers REUSE code rather than write their own.
DO NOT USE Touchscreen...DO NOT USE digital pen to select control.
MY FIX: Enable Windows Touchpad control (I always keep mine disabled and dont use it)
a) ***Using touchpad*** (not touch screen), select the Activation Code Text Input Control
b) Type your License Key (now works)
c) you can also now CTRL-V your license Key from your Amazon Copy/Paste (now works)
THIS BUG ALSO Exists if you enter the FORMS for your taxes. Same fix.
If someone wastes a few hours talking to Intuit TECH SUPPORT, let them know about the real fix. Reinstalls, and resetting your resolution to 800x600 just highlight their absolute LACK of understanding.
