Who are "they"  that did the telling??

Are you referring to a Federal tax refund?   If so, any date you see inside your Online TurboTax account is an estimate based on a common 21-day interval.   However, some returns process quicker, while some take a lot longer to process.

Or did you talk to the IRS by phone?  Is the IRS the "they" that did the telling?

Be aware that when the IRS provides a send date, they say to allow up to 5 days due to variations in bank processing times and procedures.
