Which tax year?
If 2019 desktop software...the TTX validation service appears to be shut down for that year. They aren't supporting 2019 anymore.
The 2020, 2021,2022 desktop installations are still working (I installed those on a new laptop last week).
2023 should also work, but I won't try that myself for another month or two,
Hi I just installed 2020 TurboTax. The download site let me enter the license code to get the install files. But the Activate button fails with "error with validating" as above. Is there another way to activate the software?
btw, it's a new purchase for us, it was in a new, sealed box...
That should work OK...but the software folks may have been messing with the license code system this past week.
Try calling Customer Support today (not sure if the T-Day holiday has them shut down today or not)....or Monday for sure:
What is the TurboTax phone number? (intuit.com)
You clearly are an expert Steam! I am moving to a laptop, and I still have 2019 Bursiness running on my desktop, and I am going to wipe the drive once I get everything transferred, so I do not need my license to work on the desktop once it works on the laptop, is there a way to transfer the already validated license over to the laptop? Thanks!
@Paystar5000 Sorry no. You probably won't be able to install the 2019 program again anywhere and activate it. Why do you need to use the 2019 program still? Save your return as a pdf file with all the worksheets.
2020.
Did you ever get a decent answer to this issue? I was able to download the S/W from TT using my License Code but the same code throws the exact same error when entered for Activate TurboTax Button. This is a new (never been used) install and I have tried copy/paste/typing several times. Trying to contact CS through the maze has proven unproductive. NOTE: This is TT Deluxe 2020 Activation screen on Win 11.
I finally got a support rep who was able to understand the problem. Yesterday (28 Dec 23) she was able to use my info & code to generate a new "sale" with a new activation code. I copied the new activation code and pasted it into the activation input field and Wham Bam, Thank You Ma'am - I am up and running. She says they only support 3 years of product, so if the person you get on the phone doesn't understand, ask for an escalation. The number I called is [phone number removed] - 1st fellow was eager to help but was uncomfortable trying to bypass the system in place. Turns out my activation code got changed to include a lower-case letter, but the input field (for ALL Intuit products!) forces everything to upper-case. The new code worked immediately!
well, if 8 hundred had 446 chickens they would probably sell 8848 eggs...
I called them back and just like you said, they gave me a new code for 2020 Business and it activated immediately. It appears that my previous problem with the 2019 Business install is not as easy of a fix. Is there a way to copy the activation file/registry entry/etc from the machine that has been authorized to the new machine?
TurboTax software can be installed, authenticated, and activated on up to 5 different computers you OWN per the TurboTax Desktop Software End User License Agreement.
You can download your software to the other computer, click to install, then enter your License number.
That is EXACTLY what happened to my 2019 Turbo Tax file. In updating to Windows 11 on my new Laptop, the TT code ends in little z, not Z as in the CD. No way to change it. You must call support to help activate your TT 2019 program...
I need help on the software installation
Error code 630
