I want to file my state return by mail instead of using Turbo Tax to save the fee. According to your list of FAQ's, one state return is included with the software?

It is showing you are using the Online version, the Online version does not have a free state download.  The Online version there is a charge for the Federal & a separate charge for the State, there is no charge to e-file..  The Desktop (CD/Download), Deluxe & above offers one free state download.

That's ridiculous.  Had I known that there was going to be a charge, I wouldn't have used this software.  Plus, the fact that no notification of charges to be applied appeared until I was done is bad business.  This is likely the last time I use Turbotax and I have used this product for a number of years.  Hope the extra fee for a state return was worth it to you.

Well since I don't work for TurboTax the fee does not affect me but thanks for voting me down for the correct answer.  This is a user to user forum.  If you have used TurboTax for years than you should know there is a difference between Online & Desktop.  The Online does state on the website that the State return is an additional charge.

No I didn't know.  Please forward my response to them.  This was the first time I had used the Online version and if you noted in my question, it is ridiculous to advise of charges after the fact. Had I known that the total fees were what they were, I would not used the software.

The Moderators will see this post & I did note your question & I did state that the fees are shown on the website where you have had to select the software to use. The fees are not hidden.

I was forwarded the invitation to my taxes from my wife.  No mention of fees was shown in the email.  I did not go to a website.  She was offered a $10 gift card for doing so.  So, no, there was no mention of charges.  Once I started the return, it noted that charges would be shown once the return was complete.
