This is a section of the 1099-B that is not importable mostly because the brokers do not make that info available and you must make entries in the 6781 form interview which cannot be gleamed from the broker's statement ... it is your responsibility to review all entries for accuracy prior to filing ...
enter the 1256 information and Form 6781 will be generated.
This will impact Schedule D and your form 1040 and its Schedules.
Other forms may change also, you have to determine this by inspection.
Do not include your old 1040 nor your revised 1040 because the Form 1040X reflects any changes there and becomes your new tax return.
Include any new/corrected document only if it shows federal tax withheld, and include in order only those Sequence Numbered tax forms and Schedules that changed or were added due to your amendment.
Attachment Sequence Number is on all the forms and Schedules that come after 1040.
Mail to the address shown for your location in the Instructions for Form 1040X.
Both E*Trade and Charles Schwab both do provides this information in the TT download. TT does not warn the customer that (at very least) the data was unprocessed. This caused me to file an incorrect return to IRS which I now have to amend. When I inquired with TT, the associate told me that i just needed to upgrade to Premier. As you can see on this post, that does NOT solve the problem. I hope this is of use to a customer. I have to go get straight with the IRS.
I am in the same boat. I relied on TT premier to import 1099 B in its entirety. This is a major flaw that TT imports Dividend and stock sell information but does not import section 1256 dealing with gains/ losses from Options/Contracts trading.
I realized that by a chance... the moment I imported 1099 B, my federal refund went down. My common sense told me that my losses on Options trading exceeded gains from stock sold. So there is no way my refund would go down.
I did a deep dive and realized TT did not import box 11.
It is not acceptable. I paid 70 dollars for TT. premier. TT incompetence would have costed me upwards of 1k in refund.
