I am trying to clear two items. I am an AZ resident but had income in CA.
My 1040 shows $1.100 of tax exempt interest on line 2A. I have no idea what this is from. I have reviewed all of the interest for the year and there is nothing in this amount and all interest is line 1.
This amount is flowing over to my CA adjustment nonresident form line C and flowing to line 16 as an addition to my taxable income for the year.
I am also showing a Capital gain on the CA nonresident form Line C . This is coming from CA capital gain or loss adjustment Schedule D. The description is 1099-B Bypassing 8949. This is also flowing to line 16. The total of the capital gain is the actual gain for the year. This is my first year using turbo tax on my own. Previous tax person always had these line items as Zero.

The issue is still there. I manually went in and change the numbers to see what would happen. Because it is a non resident form the effect was to reduce my tax by less then $50. It doesn't seem to be worth the time and effort I already spent on it. But, I may call now that you supplied the number.
Regards,
Rick
