So I owe taxes if my federal income box is empty? (i get paid hourly at 18) and my checks are a little higher compared to the smart asset tax paycheck calculator results.. They take off social security and other wages. How do I confirm and fix this?

Depending on what you put on the W-4 form and how much you earn each paycheck will determine how much fed/state withholding is required.  So  it is very possible that you would have no withholding ... review the W-4 you gave your employer and ask them to verify that the withholding is correct.  Also review your last pay stub ... is the fed/state YTD also zero ?   If  it doesn't match the W-2 then a corrected form may be required.

You need to complete a new W-4 for your employer so that they withhold federal tax going forward.

If you did not have federal tax withheld for 2022 and your box 2 is empty on your W-2, you cannot fix that now.  You will likely owe for 2022.
