SRB on W-2

Reuped and got 40-41k for my SRB. Got half that already. What block would it be on in my W-2? Cause people say it either is in block 12 or be part of Income.

SRB on W-2

If you are unsure where your SRB is reported on your W-2 you can ask the issuer of your Form W-2. You may be able to tell by examining your Form W-2 and comparing it to your paystub information.

If this bonus was included as income in Box 1 on your W-2, you will just enter your Form W-2 as is into TurboTax  as is. I have included instructions below on how to enter a Form W-2 in TurboTax.

If it is in Box 12 of your W-2 with a code "Q" it is nontaxable. Code "Q" indicates nontaxable combat pay for military personnel.

If you re-enlisted or extended while in a combat zone, your SRB is tax-free and does not need to be included on your tax return. Otherwise, it is taxable income.

If you are using TurboTax Online  you can enter your Form W-2 as follows::

  1. Sign into your return
  2. Click on" Pick up where you left off"
  3. Click "Search" at the top right of your screen
  4. In the search box, type "W-2"
  5. Click on "Jump to W-2"               (See screenshots below for additional guidance)
  6. Click on "Add a W-2
  7. On the next screen if you do not want to upload your W-2 click on "Type it Myself"
  8. On the next screens you will be prompted to enter your W-2 information from your form
