I received $1961 from CO. The 1099-G I received for 2017 says $1962. I called and was told since I self reported online purchases that weren't taxed I received $1 refund. That makes no sense. They charge me $1 Use Tax then refund it? But they didn't refund it as it states on the 1099-G. I received $1 less than what the 1099-G shows. I got tired of arguing with the lady. She says my tax return was correct and the 1099-G is correct. That can't be. One of them must be wrong. So here can I put that what I received is not the amount on the 1099-G?

Unfortunately, I would put the amount on the Form 1099-G. It hopefully will not make a big change in your return.
The IRS receives the same form and compares it to your return so they would see a discrepancy.
