Line 22 is 0 when Line 5 is 23,000 and is less than 100,000 and Tax table is 2,352 for married filing jointly.
Why ?

Are you sure you are looking at line 22 and not line 21?
When my line 5 is 23,121....my line 22 is 2,364
Thanks for the reply. I am using Deluxe for 2022 desktop. I am looking at line 22 and expect an answer similar to yours. I entered the same data into last year's Turbotax for 2021 and got a reasonable answer on line 22. (not zero). Hopefully an Intuit person is checking into this. I have installed all updates though Feb 4, 2023.
The program wants to select the AMT method even though the tax is less than the tax calculated by the Qual/CapGain worksheet with line 22 equal zero. I like the result but am pretty sure it is wrong.
What version of TurboTax are you using ? Hope you do not mind me asking.
I'm using Desktop Premier 2022, on a Windows computer.
The only thing I can think of...is are you sure your tax return is actually using the Qual Divs....worksheet to calculate your tax. Maybe your line 22 is a zero because some other tax calculation is being used. You don't get to choose on your own...TTx uses whatever tax calculation your data input requires for any particular tax year.
Without having all your actual data, there's no way nay of us in this Public Forum can check much further. But Customer Support can get a Diagnostic file from your tax return and check into the details.to see whether a major problem exists:
What is the TurboTax phone number? (intuit.com)
Thanks for your response. I will try to contact TurboTax if possible to alert them to a possible problem. The same data entered into last year's Deluxe program yields an answer where line 22 is non-zero. I can over ride the zero in line 22 with a tax from the table and all else falls into line. Thanks
Got very good help from Andy at TTAX. He is researching the issue and will get back to me. I am embarrassed to find that I solved the problem by completely uninstalling TTAX , reinstalling and getting all the updates. Problem fixed. I think I had a corrupted file or a bad update.
I tried to find a way to contact Andy but there does not seem to be a path to do so. I wanted to head off his doing a lot of work. I will have to wait for his call.
Anyway, thanks for your response and help.
