Section 199A--Supplemental Schedule (where to input)

I have a K-1 which has "Z" on Line 20 and a supplemental sheet with information regarding  the Section 199A detailed information.   The detail has  Section 199A income, Section 199A W-2 Wages and Section 199A Unadjusted Basis information which I was able to enter into TurboTax without difficulty.

However, it also contains "other information needed to calculate QBI at the partner level" and has amounts for "Gross Section 199A Income" and "Allocable Charitable Contributions" and I am not sure where/how to enter any of this information (or if it is necessary).   I am using TurboTax desktop.

Appreciate any help!

Section 199A--Supplemental Schedule (where to input)

Are you referring to IRS Schedule K-1 (1065) or IRS Schedule K-1 (1120S)?

For IRS Schedule K-1 (1065), at the screen Enter Box 20 info, select code Z Section 199A information.  A value does not have to be entered.

For IRS Schedule K-1 (1120S), at the screen Enter Box 17 info, select code V Section 199A information.  A value does not have to be entered.

Then click Continue.

At the screen We need some information about your 199A income, click the box to the left of the item to be entered.  An entry box will open.  You may be entering:

  • Ordinary business income (loss) from this business,
  • W-2 wages for this business, and
  • UBIA of qualified property for this business.

Enter these values for the qualified business income deduction to be calculated.

You don't need to enter the other information since you entered the section 199-A income, the associated W-2 wages and the unadjusted basis of asset information.

I have the same issue with 199A information. There is no obvious path to the appropriate place to enter the information about W-2 wages and other items.  Please direct me to that screen.  Thx.

Section 199A--Supplemental Schedule (where to input)

How I did it:   As I was entering the K-1 information I noted that there was information for Box 20 (when asked to "check boxes that have an amount or are checked on the form".     Then I was asked to "Enter Box 20 info" and entered the code Z as that was on my K-1.   I then pressed continue and noted that all my investment income is at risk (in my case); next screen said "We see you have Section 199A income" and the screen after that said "We need some information about your 199A income" and that's where it asked for the ordinary income, W-2 wages. etc.    Hope this helps.
