Why did Turbo Tax require me to fill out the Schedule E worksheet before I could file electronically, when I don't have any rental property?
You'll need to sign in or create an account to connect with an expert.
To clarify, did you have Form 1099-MISC which reported rent income?
Did you have a rental last year?
No to both questions.
Please clarify what information appears on the Schedule E worksheet presented by Final Review.
Also, which version of TurboTax are you using: TurboTax Online or TurboTax for Desktop? Windows or Mac? If Online, which browser?
I used TurboTax Home and Business on my Windows laptop.
Information on Schedule E worksheet: Street address, made no payments requiring 1099, zero days rented, no special cases.
Schedule E page two will list income reported on a Schedule K-1. Page one would list rental or royalty income. If you don't have either of those, you can delete the schedule E as follows:
1. Choose the Tax Tools option on your left menu bar while working on your return
2. Choose Tools
3. Choose the Delete a form option under Other Helpful links
4. Find the Schedule E in the list of forms and delete it
Thank you for telling me how to delete the form. What I don't understand is why it was generated in the first place.
As TomasM125 mentioned, Schedule E is used for reporting rental income, royalties, or income from partnerships and S corporations. If you earn income from these sources, you’ll likely need to complete Schedule E along with your tax return.
