Savings bonds interest

I have 2021 Savings Bond Interest for my Aunt that died in 2020.  Her final returns were submitted.   She did not have an estate so I have no estate number to file an estate tax return.  Can I report that interest on my (beneficiary) tax return?  If so how do I do that and how do I designate that entry on my return?

Savings bonds interest

Yes, since you are the beneficiary, you should report the income on your tax return.

If the only income is interest on Form 1099-INT, you can just enter that form as if it is your name. You can use the search box toward the upper right to search for 1099-INT. That should bring up a "Jump to" link. Click on Jump to and enter you information.

If you don't see Jump to, follow these directions:

Select Federal on the left side menu.

Select Income and Expenses toward upper left.

Expand/ scroll down the list and find the section called, Interest on 1099-INT, click on Add/ Edit to the right.

Answer Yes and click Continue.

Enter the information from your 1099-INT form, click Continue.
