REU stipend as only income or to offset qualified expenses

My daughter did a "Research Experience for Undergraduates" internship at Kansas State University last summer 2024. She received $6600.00 thru a stipend as per the university. They say they will not be sending her a w-2 or a 1099 or any sort.  They did not withhold anything. I intend on creating a 1098-T entry for it and enter the 6600 as an entry in box 5 (scholarships/grants). Can I will  use that amount to offset other qualified education expenses she has from another 1098-T sent from the college she attends during the year. It has some remaining qualified expenses not already written off from other scholarships?

Or is there another way?

You don't have to enter it in Box 5,

rather, in the Education section, after entering Form 1098-T (since you say she has one, if not you can by-pass the entry of Form 1098-T in that section but continue to this specific screen)

there is a screen that asks if the student received any other scholarships not reported on a tax form.

Enter the 6,600 there.
