reporting depreciation on a building that i own ?

Enter it as an asset, either under Rentals or the Business. 

The first year the depreciation is listed on Form 4562, for years following you should keep a depreciation schedule and report yearly depreciation on the form that matches the asset ( Schedule E for rentals, Schedule C for Self-Employed business)
