Regretfully, when I did contact support, they did the expected and referred me to Fidelity but I had contacted them first and they referred me to Turbo Tax. . . endless loop. I entered the info manually.
We are happy to see your issue was resolved. Please let us know if you have more questions.
Hi,
I am unable to import 1099B from fidelity. Can someone help me? After entering the Id and Password the "Continue" button shows as gray so can't click on it.
Thanks
If you are unable to import your brokerage information, you can still enter it manually.
Here's where you enter your 1099-B in TurboTax:
You will also be able to summarize your transactions by grouping them into categories and uploading a pdf of your 1099-B.
And not every brokerage can import a 1099-B. Check if your brokerage is on the list here.
Yes. Obviously it can be done manually.
But your app indicates it should be able to auto-import.
These QoL features are what you sell your products on.
1) Admit you have problem to fix
2) Fix it
Same problem. Intuit / TurboTax seems to have failed to fix this for years. Honestly, it's things like this that are pushing me and others to just drop TT and move to other options.
After reading the suggestion elsewhere, I was able to solve my problem by creating a new Fidelity password of only 8 characters. This also worked with oter financial institutions. Apparently the very long passwords are creating a problem for Turbo Tax.l.
Still can't import from Fidelity even when i change my password... This is a joke.
@Henry1066 Can you tell us what occurs when you try to import? Are you receiving an error message?
Just says cannot connect to Fidelity at this time, try again tomorrow...
I had to input 1099 manually..
The whole point of me using Turbotax is so it can save me time.
Obviously this drastically increased the time it took me to do my tax return so I don't
think I'll be using Turbo tax next year.
This is a problem that seems to have been going on for at least a couple of years but
Turbo tax doesn't seem to even care to fix it..
I entered username and Password, clicked login, and it said username/password is invalid. I entered the same information into Fidelity.com and accessed my Acct. called Fidelity, not an error on their part.
Please see the below TurboTax help article for assistance with importing your 1099.
What if I can't import my 1099?
If you continue to have issues please reach out to a TurboTax representative for assistance.
What is the TurboTax phone number?
The problem is that this issue is persistent. its known and not fixed. you are lying to customers who cant import information like you claim to be able to do. if I wanted to enter things in manually, I wouldn't have paid for this software.
Your first link doesn't show anything helpful.
Try changing your Password on Fidelity account to something 8 characters or less and then import to TurboTax. After import you can change back to longer password. This worked for me with Fidelity as well as other financial accounts.
Same problem.
Password now set to 8 characters long.
Still a problem.
This had worked in previous years.
Continue Button is always gray for fidelity but not for other financial institutions. I have successfully done two others.
Ugh.
