My foster son doesn’t have a social security number, how do I claim him on my taxes?

No I haven’t applied because I don’t know how to apply. I only had child for tax year 2023-2024

@Joycealbert You cannot claim the child until the child has either an ITIN or a SSN.   So you should wait to file your return that claims the child-----wait for the SSN even if you need to request an extension to file your return.

The child is no longer in foster care so the worker cannot get it. Parents won’t give it to me

Then you cannot claim the child as a dependent on your tax return.
