hi, I am wondering a little more on what is required to take a partial exclusion of gain from a home sale for a work related move. What qualifies as a work related move? What documentation is needed? (Context: This would be capital gains due to selling a 2nd home within a 2 year period so unable to take the gain exclusion this time around.)

Yes, you could potentially still meet the requirements for a partial sale of home exclusion, if any of the following describe your situation, during your time of ownership and residence in the home you sold.
You took or were transferred to a new job in a work location at least 50 miles farther from the home than your old work location. For example, your old work location was 12 miles from the home and your new work location is 62 miles from the home.
You had no previous work location and you began a new job at least 50 miles from the home.
This also applies if the above is true of your spouse, a co-owner of the home, or anyone else for whom the home was his or her residence.
To document this you will need to show proof of prior employment location, and the exact mileage from your home you sold, and proof of your current employer location and mileage from that home as well.
