I recommend verifying that your last name and social security number is listed on your Tax Return exactly as it appears on your actual social security. I suggest locating the actual social security card, not looking at a previous tax return or other documents to verify.
If you have two last names or two middle names, that could be causing the issue. If there are two last names, use the "first" last name. If there are two middle names, use the "second" middle name as the last name (then leave a space and include the last name). Also be sure to include any suffix to the last name like Jr, Sr, III, etc.
Finally, if you recently changed your name with the Social Security Administration, the information may not have been updated to the IRS database yet. If this is the case, you will need to use the name prior to your name change in order to e-file your return.
I would like change my name. IRS keep reject. DorisW Tommie
I did pull my tax forms it was listed as Doris W. Tommie
@doris jean89 We cannot see your screen or your tax return. Does the rejection notice say that the name does not match your SSN or that the SSN is a "duplicate?"
I put my name on the forms as it reads on my past tax forms. It was rejected. I tried 3 different times
What EXACTLY does the rejection notice say? Word for word. Copy and paste it here so we can see what it says.
