If you have received a W-2 for election /poll income, then you must report it as such. If you have not received the Form W-2, then you should not have received more than $1,600 in compensation and the amount should be reported as Other Income.
Please follow the steps below to enter Poll/Election income:
Note: If you have received more than $1600 and no W-2 was issued, please contact the agency you worked for.
I made over $1000 but less than $1600 as an Elections Pollworker in 2024. How do I enter my income earned as pollworker. I did receive 1099 NEC.
Are you sure you received a 1099-NEC and not a 1099-MISC? A 1099-NEC is for nonemployee compensation (like a contractor). One-time payments are generally reported on 1099-MISC. Can you clarify the form you received?
To clarify the form received for my income earned as a Pollworker, for an amount greater than $1000 and less than $1600, was on a 1099 NEC form.
In the Income Topics list, scroll down to Miscellaneous Income 1099-A, 1099-C.
On the next page, scroll all the way down to Other Reportable Income.
Enter a Description/Amount. Keep the 1099-NEC with your tax records as documentation for reporting this as Other Income.
