Exactly what I thought. I entered 1099R information for 1/3 of my withdrawal just to see the impact it's going to have. I was thinking TTax should know, ask, and "talk" about form 8915f.
The 8915-F form does not exist yet. The IRS has not released it yet.
While the form is still in draft form with the IRS, several other tax software programs seem to have put the draft into their system and it pops up should you have a need to file the form.
Furthermore, the IRS usually has forms programmed in their systems and the paper forms are what takes the longest. I was told this by a tax professional.
Interesting.
Anyone know why it says it’s available as of 1/24/22 on the IRS website ?

It is in error since it is Not listed using Search on the IRS website - https://www.irs.gov/
The Form 8915-F and instructions are still only in Draft mode on the IRS draft forms website - https://apps.irs.gov/app/picklist/list/draftTaxForms.html
You will need to file Form 8915-F for 2021 return to report the taxable amount from the Covid-qualifying withdrawal made in 2020 that was reported on your 2020 return Form 8915-E. This assumes you are spreading the payments over three years. Form 8915-F also provides for any amounts returned.
Hope this helps clarify.
Three weeks. Is there some way to avoid this since there was no profit from even using this after Harvey. We were still taxed. And we were 59 1/2 so no benefit of any kind.
I seem to be the rarity in that I elected to pay all my taxes last year from my CARES act withdrawal in 2020 and not stretch it out over 3 years. I read that someone else did the same and the reply to them was that "they were done". So I do not need to wait for the 8915F form and I can finish my taxes? That is what I thought it should be but Turbotax program is not allowing me to finish because it doesn't ask whether I've already paid the taxes. It's as if it assumes I'm stretching it out over 3 years but I'm not. I do not want to wait another two months for some form that I don't even need to fill out. What should I do?
As of yesterday, it looks like the 8915f has been finalized by the IRS. Now we just have to wait on TurboTax to load the form! Hopefully it’s done by the end of this week or early next week!
I was able to view and download the hard copy of Form 8915-F today from the IRS Form Site. Therefore, it should be available to TurboTax users as soon as their interface is approved by the IRS. It is a fairly complicated form for which I'm certainly glad TurboTax should be automatically filling out most of it for users.

Until both the IRS Form 8915-F and the Form 8915-F Instructions have been finalized by the IRS there is nothing that TurboTax can do concerning the form being available in the TurboTax software.
I believe that is talking about the initial reporting of your withdrawal. If you had not reported it last year when you were supposed to you would use 8915-E. Everything I have researched says the form 8915-F should be used to report the 2nd of 3 installments. And as Far as I can tell 8915-F will continue to be used for following years so maybe we won’t have to wait forever with no answers from the IRS.

Have you read the draft instructions? This is a extremely complex form and programing to accommodate the form will take awhile - https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-dft/i8915f--dft.pdf

The 8915-F form has not yet been included in the TurboTax list of IRS Forms availability so no date has been issued when it will be available in TurboTax - https://care-cdn.prodsupportsite.a.intuit.com/forms-availability/turbotax_fed_online_individual.html
