It was released today Feb 12.....now waiting on turbo tax to update.
It was released Feb 12
Thanks
Where did you see that the IRS released it?
i received this message from TurboTax today... will see if it is indeed e-fileable.
Hello,
There’s an update on a TurboTax help article you’re following: "Why am I getting getting a 10% penalty on my 1099-R when I withdrew fund during Covid? (Form 8915-E)".
Form 8915-E, which is used for COVID-related early distributions, will
be e-fileable starting 2/24.
We know it’s frustrating to encounter problems like this. Thanks for your patience while we investigate and work on this issue.
If there’s something else we can help you with, feel free to give us a call.
Thank you,
The TurboTax Help Team
This FAQ has been updated to show the Feb 24 date.
However, don't jump the gun. Sometimes the updates are applied in the afternoon or evening of the stated day instead of the morning.
just received an email from TurboTax Customer Solutions stating the 8915-E will be e-fileable starting 2/24
hope to see an update for TT soon at this point. No rush to file... but would like to proceed.

@DoninGA Thanks for the reply, but that link of yours had old details prior to it being final..... My point i guess was more that now that it is final on the IRS site that i hope to see TT get it added on their end... not that we can file yet... There are still forms from previous years that will need to even be updated that have a later date before people can file them. Thank you.

The link does give a date when the 8915-E will be available for e-filing - 02/24/2021
I’m wondering if other tax softwares will have it added prior to the 24th
At least it will have the ability to be e-filed via turbo tax! That is what they say for now.
I've been reading over form 8915-E. I don't see a space anywhere for federal and/or state taxes that have already been withheld. (I opted to have a portion withheld from my distribution.)
Regardless of e-file or PDF upload, how do we report this on the actual form? Or, will Turbo Tax have the option to insert that figure somewhere (when the software is updated)? I don't want to be taxed on the whole distribution when I've already paid some.
