What was my AGI for 2019?

No one here would know your 2019 AGI.

There are a few places you can get your 2019 AGI:

  • If you filed your 2019 taxes with TurboTax, sign in and go down to Your tax returns & documents. Select View adjusted gross income (AGI).
  • If you didn’t file your taxes with TurboTax in 2019, the best place to get last year's AGI is from the 1040 form you filed with the IRS. Look on line 8b. If you filed a 1040NR, it'll be on line 35.
  • If you're having trouble locating your 2019 return, the second-best place to get your AGI is from the IRS. You can order a free transcript of your return at the IRS Get Transcript site or you can purchase a full copy of your 2019 return. Both versions will include your AGI.  The Online IRS transcript is easy to get & you will have the information in less than 15 minutes.

If you didn't file a 2019 federal tax return (or you haven't filed one yet), enter 0 as your AGI.

Married Filing Separately in 2019 but filing jointly in 2020?

Filed jointly in 2019 but are Married Filing Separately in 2020?

You won't find your AGI on your W-2 or 1099 form because those forms don't take into account over a dozen above-the-line deductions that go into calculating your AGI.

What was my AGI for 2019?

I'm trying to e-file my federal return but it was rejected

because the amount of AGI listed on my 2019 form is

not  the right one.    AGI for 2019    47,637.00

                                     Taxable Income 21,937.00

Not sure which one to use.

Use your 2019 AGI as identity verification for e-filing your 2020 tax return (not "Taxable Income").

If you’re still getting an e-file reject, here are a few possible reasons why:

  • Filed late last year after mid-November or your return was processed after that time—try entering 0.
  • Amended your return last year—make sure you’re using the AGI from your original return, not the amended one. (If you only have a 1040X form, it’s on line 1, column A).
  • Rounded your AGI to the nearest dollar—be sure to round up when it’s 50 cents or more and down when it’s 49 cents or less.
  • Filed with your spouse last year—you and your spouse have the same 2019 AGI. (Don’t split the AGI amount or enter 0 for one of you).

If you’re still having trouble, we suggest that you check with the IRS to make sure that the copy of your return is the same as what they have in their records. To do this, you can order a tax return transcript

If you’ve tried everything and nothing works, you can still file a paper return by printing out copies of your federal and state returns and mailing them. We’ll include File by Mail Instructions on where to send your returns and what forms, if any, you need to include.

What was my AGI for 2019?

@Raymundo2  You use the 2019 AGI 47,637.  If your 2019 AGI is being rejected, they using a Zero (0), the IRS was very backlogged in 2019 processing returns, yours could have been processed late.

You also can get a free Online Transcript from the IRS, it only takes about 15 minutes & it will show the 2019 AGI that the IRS has on file for you.
