Tax Year Prior to 2020: What if my parents claimed me as a dependent in 2019 but I no longer live with them in 2020 can I still claim the stimulus check?

No one else can tell the IRS you were not a dependent .  Only you.  And only the 2019 returns count, not what happened in 2020.

Tax Year Prior to 2020: What if my parents claimed me as a dependent in 2019 but I no longer live with them in 2020 can I still claim the stimulus check?

I filed taxes for 2019 and marked that I could be claimed as a dependent, but this year (March 9th 2020) I turned 24 so I'd no longer be considered a dependent. Will I receive a stimulus check or no?

In order to be considered an independent you have to have made more than $10,000 in the 2019 year. Since your grandma filed you as a dependent in 2018 and you did not make any money in 2019 it doesn’t matter if you file as I depended or not. The irs does not see you as an independent. If you are still living under her roof, and you made no money you don’t qualify. Anybody who CAN be claimed on a tax return will not receive a stimulus check. I’d also be smart and not try to trick the irs into giving you that money because the stimulus is considered a tax break because next year when you file your taxes, if the irs finds out that you lied in the previous  tax year to get the money, you’ll owe them back that money.

What if I filed my 2019 got a tax return but placed “someone else can claim” (checked that box) but realized my parents won’t do their 2019 taxes and there for won’t claim me.. will I get a check? Or should I re file and go back and change it to where no one can claim me??

I was a dependent to my domestic partner 2018 in which he is under 1040 V. And for 2019 I wasn't his dependent no more and I didn't file taxes . Do I qualify for a stimulus check .?

I have a question, so I filled my taxes and checked I can be claimed as a dependent, but my parents never did there taxes. Will I still get a the $1,200?

What if I filed my taxes for 2019 first and claimed I was not a dependent and my father claimed me. Will I still get my check or no? I’m confused on the whole situation.

My parents also claimed me as a dependent in 2018 and have not filed 2019 taxes. I filed 2019 taxes and received my return. I indicated that someone can claim me as a dependent on my 2019 on accident - I think it carried over from my 2018 return. Am I still eligible for the stimulus check?

What if I Checked "someone can claim me" on my 2019 returns, but, my parents didn't claim me on their 2019 returns.  I was a student but not a full time student, living at home.

If I claimed myself as an independent on my taxes, but my father COULD NOT claim me as a dependent on his, do I still get a stimulus check?

What if I have yet to file my 2019 return, but will within the week and will be an independent, but in 2018 I was claimed as a dependent. I know if you haven't filed your 2019 return, they use 2018.. Will I still receive a stimulus check after I file my 2019 or is it too late?
