You are responsible for any late fees. Your rejection came from the IRS, not TurboTax.

It appears you bought the CD/Download version of TurboTax, which gets installed on your own computer hard drive. The installation leaves an icon on your Desktop and you're supposed to click that icon to do your tax return. The state program is included but e-filing of a state has an additional charge. It appears, though, that you actually accessed the online web version of the program to do your return. That's a completely different product, and the use of it is not included in the purchase of your CD. The Online version does not include any state programs and it is charged to you at the time you finish your return and try to file.

Yes, that's the correct approach. Cost basis should be only that portion you own because that's the only amount you yourself can depreciate.

Ready to mail means you need to print and mail them. If you haven't done that, they haven't been filed yet.

If you have a 1099-MISC for your work instead of a W-2, or you were claimed a a dependent by someone else, you likely would owe tax. The 1099-MISC income requires that you pay in social security and medicare tax, even if you didn't owe regular income tax.

Yes, but you likely will receive it in 2021 when you do your 2020 tax return. Amended returns have to be filed by mail and the . IRS right now is not processing mailed returns. In a normal year, it can take the IRS up to 16 weeks to process an amended return, this year it will likely take much longer, even until after stimulus checks are being issued. You can. however, take one next year when you file.

If anyone on your return has an ITIN, none of you will receive a stimulus payment.

No, they were not combined because they never are. State tax returns go to the state department of revenue for that state and the federal return goes to the IRS. Refunds are received from each agency separately.

You are correct. Checking that you could be claimed as a dependent makes you ineligible for a stimulus payment, whether anyone did claim you or not. You can file your 2020 return correctly next year and receive the payment then.
