It means the IRS (or state) changed something on your tax return and adjusted your refund accordingly.

They will be sending you a letter.

@manderson344690 If there is any amount still due you, the IRS will send it to you. They do not notify TT.

If I had $1,234 as a return for example, and I got the offset letter for a debt in which they took $123 of it, and at the bottom it stated Adjusted Refund Amount $0.00, does my adjusted refund amount mean that I'm no longer getting any money back?

If your return amount changed, you will receive a letter from the IRS indicating the change.

So if the adjusted tax refund amount is $0.00, does this mean you get nothing back?

If my adjusted refund amount says 0 ,does that mean I'm not receiving any refund?

@Danadane7869 If your adjusted refund is showing as $0, that would mean that you will not be getting a refund. The IRS should send you a notice explaining what changed to reduce it.

Yes. If the adjusted refund amount is $0, it means you are not getting a federal tax refund. As Tax Expert @DMarkM1 explained, the IRS will send you a letter explaining why your refund was adjusted.

A $0 refund suggests your refund was taken for an unpaid debt, such

  • Past-due child support;
  • Federal agency non-tax debts;
  • State income tax obligations; or
  • Certain unemployment compensation debts owed to a state (generally, these are debts for (1) compensation paid due to fraud, or (2) contributions owing to a state fund that weren't paid).

If you don't receive a notice, contact the Bureau of Fiscal Service's TOP call center at 800-304-3107 (or TTY/TDD 866-297-0517), Monday through Friday 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. CST.

Hi. If IRS adjusted my amount to $0 and saying “We changed the amount claimed as Recovery Rebate Credit on your tax return.” What does it mean? Does it mean my RRC is also $0?

My taxes were accepted 1-28-22, on where’s my refund I have that notice that they’ve been delayed. I’ve checked my transcript many times only to find N/A for 2021, along with it saying my return was not being processed.  However this morning transcript has changed and is now there and is processing. I do have an adjusted amount as well. How soon will I receive my refund and will it still be direct deposit?

@KT3mama

Once your return has been transmitted to the IRS, you are then on their timeline.  The best way to get the status of your refund is to check back periodically on the IRS' WMR site.  For more details on why some refunds take longer than others, please see this Help Article and this Help Article in regards to refunds taking longer than 21 days.
