Hello,
Question about changing W-4 elections. We are MFJ, Two Jobs. Wife is about to be let go. Do I modify W-4 by simply unchecking Two Jobs box in W-4, Step 2 (c)?
Thank you.

Use the Tax Withholding Estimator on the IRS web site to figure out what you and your spouse should each put on the W-4 forms that you give to your employers. It's much easier than using the worksheets on the form. It will let you adjust your withholding to get the approximate refund amount that you want.

I see, thank you.
I thought it would be as easy as unchecking Two Jobs now that not both of us are working, but I guess it is more complicated than that.
@VM2021 personally, I would just let it go since we are so late in the year. Before the 1st paycheck hits in January, assuming your spouse is not going back to work, adjust the W-4 as appropriate.
This makes sense, thank you.
Actually on a W-4 there are really only 4 lines and the worksheets ... the unchecking of the worksheet is not a thing ... use the IRS tool to help you figure this out.
