@ajones0526 I can't say for certain since I do not have a USAA checking account but I suspect the USAA change to block screen scraping only affected credit cards. The other banking accounts that are working probably did not have any changes made to the website which would break the screen scrape ability used by many web based tools.
Hopefully USAA wont do a similar change to the other account type web sites or if they do, they learned their lesson to notify the customers by putting a banner on the USAA web site. But I doubt they have learned anything since they were so slow to admit they were the cause of the problem.
Yea I too hope that doesn’t happen with the other USAA accounts. Thanks again @kajoyce65 for your contributions to this thread.
Don't do that. I just created a new account and tried adding my USAA account. Same problem as you are having. Deleting your account and re-adding it will not fix this problem and WILL ERASE all your historic data.
Why is this listed as “solved?”
It’s now 2023 and the problem is exactly the same as it’s been for the last 6+ months of 2022: no credit card transactions.
When is this going to be fixed?
Still an issue for me..
I just started using mint and none of my Usaa stuff is coming through. Did this ever get fixed?
Please reach out to Mint Support for assistance with the connection issue you're experiencing with USAA.
I have asked Mint for assistance updating my USAA Visa and American Express Credit Cards; however, they are still not syncing. What is odd is my USAA checking and savings accounts are syncing. Please let me know when this will be fixed!
@MichelleLO, this is not an isolated issue. Many members are having this problem and have had it for months. It has not been resolved. Mint support has been limited in their assistance, at best. We have no timeline as to when our transactions will begin updating again and Mint/USAA have shown no evidence they are actually working together for a solution.
Both Mint and USAA are actively losing long-time customers as a result of this breach in communication. I am strongly considering making a similar change despite the enormous inconvenience it would pose.
@Anonymous where are you going to go? What product are you going to use that is free, like Mint, and works at downloading USAA transactions?
As I have mentioned many times in this thread. Mint did nothing wrong. USAA broke the ability to screen scrape data which is the method Mint uses and many other FREE tools for importing data into the financial tools even Fidelity Investments uses screen scraping to get credit card data for their full view tool.
If you want to pay for a tool you can likely get the data into the financial tool, can't say for sure because I don't have any pay tools for my budgeting.
Let's make sure we are pointing blame in the correct direction.
@kajoyce65 I have not had time to do research. I may consider a budgeting app behind a paywall. I would even consider payment with Mint/Intuit for increased security with my accounts.
I have several accounts managed under Mint and I too have USAA checking accounts that are updating without issue. I read the previous posts in the thread and understand how USAA is no longer allowing Mint to screen scrape; but I lean more towards this being a collective issue rather than Mint being entirely fault free. Security protocols change every day and are updated to protect their clients. Both sides must stay flexible in their collaboration so their customers can continue to use their products...or the products will become obsolete.
@Anonymous IU will ask you the same as I asked the previous people in this thread. What makes you think screen scraping is less secure? Screen scraping occurs after the account information (userid/password) has been validated. The secure connection has been established when the screen scraping occurs. It is no less secure than any other method since the security occurs at login, not at data retrieval.
If the Federal Reserve blocked access to your bank from being able to process your checks and do ACH transactions. Would you blame your bank for not allowing you to cash checks or pay your bills using ACH?
That is what USAA did to Mint. USAA made a change and Mint can't fix the issue without USAA providing the new information. Mint is not at fault here. They will need to change their interface but USAA has to provide the method/API so Mint can code it into their product.
It is always easier to plan for a change than to respond to it. USAA didn't tell anyone outside USAA they were making the change. Hell it took months for them to admit they even made a change that broke ALL financial tools from accessing their credit card data.
New to Mint today, and got all my accounts added (multiple banks, including USAA checking.)
BUT.. my two USAA credit cards not even an option. Lifer USAA guy, but I started moving off their Credit Cards a couple years ago (due to non-customer-friendly issues, just like this.)
So, more reason why not counting on USAA for support in modern digital life is not good. Glad to see they like to spend tons of money on advertising though ( :( )
Same with me. I haven’t been posting a lot on this because it’s frustrating that the old USAA doesn’t exist anymore. They are absolutely ignoring the members needs and member’s satisfaction. I called USAA several times and they totally ignore the problem. So, in my response, I moved all my annuity accounts out of Usaa. Because I don’t want my credit score affected, I’m leaving the cc account open for now, but I’m not using it. I am using my Citi and Costco credit cards. USAA said that the reason they did this is because of better security? If that’s the case, why are they still allowing the screen scraping on all other accounts? This will be my last posting on this. I think the only way to show USAA what members want is to show them with actions affecting their business.
This couldn’t have been said any better. My situation is very similar to yours. Using different credit cards other than USAA and thinking about parking my money in a different online account. Like you, USAA still allows screen scraping for my Checking/Savings account so there’s no urgency.
There have been some great contributors to this thread and your response pretty much sums it up. I’ve tried to find this type of thread on USAA Community pages but, for whatever reason, have been unsuccessful.
