2019 can not be done online. so could you provide more information about what you were doing?
2019 can only be done with desktop software and can not be efiled.

if you do 2019 first you can transfer data from the desktop to the online a/c so 2019 information can be transferred.

I started my 2020 taxes online. At the start, it pulled in all of my 2019 data.
Somewhere along the way, all of the 2019 data disappeared. So now I'm part of the way through the 2020 filing, and TurboTax won't repopulate the 2019 information. I would be happy to start over from the beginning, but I can't figure out how to do that either. Every time I log out and in, it insists on having me continue the filing I started, which now has no 2019 data in it.
Not that it really matters, but from "My Products & Billing":
I can't think of a reason that 2019 data that transferred into a 2020 return would "disappear" unless you have multiple accounts and started a second 2020 return in another account.
I can tell you how to "clear and start over," but first be sure you are in the correct account and don't have more than one account. Here's one way to tell:
In the current account you are using, log in (if not already in), and at the Tax Home scroll down to the section "Your Tax Returns & Documents." Expand that section and choose tax year 2019. Is the 2019 return there? If so, view the 2019 PDF to be sure that the PDF has the complete final 2019 return that was filed last year.
If the above shows you are in the account with the filed 2019 return, then I'll tell you how you can clear the 2020 return and start over. It should transfer the 2019 data in when you restart.
Hi! Thanks for your help. I have only one account, and as confirmation, the account I am looking at has the partially complete 2020 filing that originally had the 2019 data transferred to it.
When I click on "Tax Home", I get no scroll down menu, it just says: "Hi David, let's keep working on your taxes!" -- and offers up the 2020 filing I have partially completed, but with the 2019 data now gone. There doesn't appear to be any other options. I can't even figure out how to restart from the beginning.
OK, I found Tax returns and documents way at the bottom of the right panel. It shows my 2019 federal tax due and state refund. So what now...?
To clear and start over, you first have to open your return interview.
Once the return is open, go to the left menu column and click on TAX TOOLS, then choose "Clear and Start Over."
See this FAQ and video first:
FAQ: How do I clear and start over in TurboTax Online?
Wow, could the interface be any worse?
I didn't recognize the pdf option because it appears under the 2018 heading, even though its not 2018. Yes, it is the correct and final 2019 filing.
Please advise. Thank you kindly!

That's bizarre. I've never seen a 2019 return PDF appear under the tax year 2018 heading.
In any case, I left steps above and a FAQ video to tell you how to use "Clear and start over."
OH... MY... GAWD!
Thanks so much for pointing me to the needle in the haystack!
You saved my night. Props!

You're welcome. By the way, another way to tell that the 2019 PDF in that account is the final version of that 2019 return, is if you efiled it, there should be a status for it in the section "Your Tax Returns & Documents." If you efiled it, it should show that it was "accepted."
2018 appears over the right column. It is greyed out, but for the uninitiated, it looks like the listed options are under the 2018 heading, while only the federal and state result boxes appear to be under 2019.
